Google Business Profile Help for Landscapers

Google charges nothing for a Business Profile, and you can manage yours from your phone between yards. If you’d rather someone else kept it current, here’s how manager access works, what we’d handle through the seasons, and what it costs.

Free At Google

You’d be paying for time, not the profile.

Google describes Business Profile as a tool that can be used at no charge, and notes that third parties often charge a fee to manage one. If you want to handle it yourself, our landscaping post on the blog goes through the settings one by one.

Google Business Profile is free from Google. Anyone can create and manage a profile at no cost. Our fees pay for our setup and management work. Working with a third party → (opens in a new tab)

Permissions

Owner keeps the keys; manager does the chores.

Owners have full control: users, info, even deleting the profile. Managers can edit info, respond to reviews, and manage posts, but they can’t add or remove users or remove the profile. Each person signs in with their own Google Account, so passwords never get passed around, and our terms say never to send us one.

The Invite

How to add us as a manager.

  • Go to your Business Profile and open More, then Business Profile settings, then People and access.
  • Select Add at the top left and type our email address.
  • Under Access, choose Manager, then select Invite.
  • Pending invites show on the same page, and you can cancel one there.

Landscaping Profiles

Seasons, services, and the LI number.

Seasonal hours

Google lets you use current seasonal hours as regular hours, set special hours for holidays, and mark the business temporarily closed in an off-season.

Two kinds of customer

Design and install for one buyer, weekly maintenance for another, both listed as services.

Irrigation in posts

30 TAC §344.70 says every form of advertisement for irrigation services shows the LI license number. If a post advertises irrigation, the number goes in it.

Photos are the pitch

Before-and-after shots of your own yards, added through the year.

Your real name

As it appears on your trailer and invoices, with no extra keywords.

Reviews without perks

Ask every client; Google removes reviews traded for discounts or gifts.

Measure It

Check Performance before you renew a month.

Owners and managers can see profile views, the searches that showed you, calls, website clicks, and direction requests. The searches figure updates at the start of each month and may take up to 5 days. Google’s advice when using a third party: look at those results every month and check that photos and hours are current.

Warning Signs

From Google’s page on third parties.

Placement promises

Google says third parties can’t promise or directly influence where a business shows on Search or Maps.

Fake Google staff

Ask for an email from an @google.com address.

Pressure and threats

Outsiders can’t remove your business or access the profile without your permission.

Fuzzy pricing

Get an official agreement that lists the services and the costs.

Secret numbers

You’re entitled to your profile’s performance data.

Several helpers at once

Google suggests working with one third party at a time.

Removing A Manager

Done in People and access.

Select the person and choose Remove person; only owners can. Google says posts and review replies they made stay on the profile. If you ask us to go, our access comes off within 7 business days.

Getting Started

How setup runs, start to finish.

Onboarding starts the same day as your purchase. GBP Setup goes live within 5 to 7 business days of receiving your content and access, including 1 round of revisions and 5 business days for your review. Google decides verification; any extra Google steps add time.

Client Review

What a client said about his website.

We don’t have a landscaping client review yet. Here’s Luis Madera, owner of Cam Collision, a New Braunfels body shop, on his website. Quoted exactly:

“I have owned a business for 6 years now and never made a website for two reasons, one I have been luck enough to stay busy and the other is because I'm extremely picky with work that I provide and received. Darren built me a website that was just perfect! Everything about it was exactly what I was looking for and more. I am glad it took me 6 years to get one. Any sooner and I would have missed out on his talent. Thanks again”
